The eligibility criteria to appear for AILET 2018 differs as per the course in which a candidate wants to secure admissions.
AILET 2018 Eligibility Criteria for BA LLB (Hons)
Candidates can apply for AILET if they meet the eligibility criteria as mentioned on the official website stating that: “In order to appear for AILET, candidates should have passed the 10+2 examination and scored a minimum of 50%. However, candidates appearing for 10+2 examinations in the year of the AILET can also apply provided they meet the above condition at the time of admission”.
Regarding age limit for BA LLB (Hons) course aspirants are informed by NLU Delhi's official website that on the basis of Supreme Court's order issued on March 3, 2018 wherein stay has been imposed on Bar Council of India's recommendation "relating to age restriction for taking admission in LLB Course, there shall be no age restriction for applying in All India Law Entrance Test-2018 to be conducted by National Law University, Delhi for admission to BA LLB (Hons) Programme, subject to the final decision of the Apex Court".
AILET 2018 Eligibility Criteria for LLM
Aspirants can apply for LLM programme admissions if they have cleared their LLB or equivalent degree from a recognised University wherein they have not scored less than 55% marks. For candidates belonging to the SC/ST/Persons with Disability category, the eligibility criteria specifies that aspirants will be eligible to apply for admissions if they score 50% in LLB or equivalent degree.
Candidates who are foreign nationals will be eligible to secure admissions if their “academic record of LLB or equivalent degree is recognised by the UGC/ Association of Indian Universities with not less than 55% marks or the equivalent grade”.
Foreign nationals appearing for their final exams in April/May, 2018 are also eligible to apply.
AILET 2018 Eligibility Criteria for PhD
In order to be eligible to secure admission in a doctoral programme in law on the basis of AILET, an aspirant needs to fulfill any ONE of the below mentioned criterions:
• Secure a Master’s Degree in law from any recognised university wherein he/she has not secured less than 55% marks if they belong to the general category. This percentage requirement for SC/ST/ persons with disability is 50%.
• Secure a law degree along with a Master’s Degree with MPhil in social sciences/humanities from any recognised university such that they do not secure less than 55% marks (or its equivalent). However, here aspirants need to ensure that the research work they have conducted in the social sciences/humanities sphere interfaces with any discipline of law and apart from that has special focus on topics like Public Policy of Law.
• Possess a degree in law & PhD in any discipline.
• Worked as a State High Court Judge in India having three years’ experience or being a Judge at Supreme Court of India.
In order to secure admissions at NLU, New Delhi, aspirants need to follow the below mentioned steps:
STEP 1: Fill AILET Application Form
Aspirants can apply for AILET on the official website of NLU, New Delhi. The application forms for AILET exam are mostly available for purchase from the first week in January (of the exam year).

STEP 2: Download AILET Admit Card
The admit card for AILET will be issued online to candidates. The AILET 2018 admit card will be issued by April. Candidates will not be allowed to take AILET if they do not possess a valid admit card for the exam. Aspirants can download the admit card for this law entrance exam from the official website of NLU, New Delhi.
STEP 3: Give AILET Exam
This law entrance exam is of one and a half hour duration. The AILET exam is divided into five sections which are – English, General Knowledge, Logical Reasoning, Basic Mathematics and Legal Aptitude
STEP 4: Check AILET Result
After giving the exam, aspirants then need to check their AILET 2018 RESULT on the official website of the exam. In order to check the AILET result, candidates need to enter their registration/roll number as well as password on the official exam website. Also, candidates need to take part in counselling process for admission basis their AILET score.
AILET Exam Pattern for BA LLB (Hons) Course
The AILET exam for BA LLB (Hons) course comprises of 150 questions which aspirants need to complete in duration of 1 hour 30 minutes. AILET 2018 exam pattern is such that the test paper is divided into five sections which are English, Basic Mathematics, General Knowledge, Legal Aptitude and Logical Reasoning.
Maximum marks which one can secure in AILET are 150. The distribution of questions asked and marks in AILET exam are as mentioned below:

AILET Exam Pattern for LLM Course
AILET 2018 exam pattern for LLM course is such that there will be a total of 101 questions in exam (100 objective questions and 1 subjective question) of 150 marks. Candidates need to complete the exam in 90 minutes duration.
